With the retirement of Michael Schumacher from Formula One (F1), a new era has begun. The year 2007 witnessed some of the most thrilling and unpredictable races of all time. While only two top teams have a real chance in the tussle for the championship crown, the end result was beyond everyone’s expectation.
The touted 2006 world champion, Fernando Alonso, was ousted by his own teammate, newcomer Lewis Hamilton; internal politics and public quarrel added to the drama of the scandal-ridden sport. Kimi Raikkonen, Mr Iceman, who kept a low profile throughout the championship, finally blazed a trail of glory, fuelled by the passion of the Ferrari Team.
These are the memorable and unforgettable words from the Ferrari and Formula One legend, Michael Schumacher:
“What an incredible finale, what a thrilling finish! I was so, so happy to see Kimi and Felipe leading the way across the finish line. I mean I’ve always believed that you should never, ever give up and you should always keep fighting even when there’s only a slightest chance, but that it would turn out to be true was something almost no one dared to believe.”
This is the competitive spirit Schumacher upheld throughout his racing career, and these words show that his passion and dreams still live on through the new Ferrari blood.
All the Best, Ferrari!
