Muscular and Sporty Car: Maserati Gran Turismo


The new Pininfarina-styled Maserati GranTurismo, which recently debuted at the Geneva Motorshow, continues a tradition that was begun in 1947 when the Trident Company unveiled its first Gran Turismo – A6 GranTurismo. A6 GranTurismo styled by Pininfarina was presented by the Modena car manufacturer in 1947 upon the request by several customers. It was the first road-going Maserati and 58 vehicles were produced. The car was received well respond by the motoring press at that time.

In 1957, the first standard Gran Turismo, 3500GT, was presented by Maserati. It was the car that would transform Maserati into a full-fledged car manufacturer, where the production of road-going vehicles took priority over racing cars. A total of 1,983 3500GT models were produced within a period of seven years.

This new Maserati GranTurismo 2008 is described as a muscular and sporty car that can be enjoyed everyday. It is a high-performance sports car with a 405bph 4.2 litre V8 engine, and a weight distribution of 49% at the front and 51% at the rear. It features an automatic gearbox system, and equipped with an adaptive control system that can adjusts the gear-shifting mode according to driving style and driving conditions.
