The festivals season is coming, many people might make long journey for vacation or visit relatives or friends. Be careful while you are driving. Here with some defensive driving tips for you:
– Ensure you have enough sleep and energy for your journey. This will ensure full concentration when you drive.
– Make sure you have plenty of room when you merge lanes. Always use your signal light to indicate your intention to change lanes. If another car overtake you, slow down and give it room to merge into your lane.
– Allow adequate space between your car and the car ahead. There have been occasions where drivers get angry when they feel they are being followed too closely. If someone is breathing down your back, signal and change lanes to allow the other driver to pass
– Keep your hands relaxed and steady on the steering wheel and avoid making gestures that might anger another driver.
– Do not road hog. Stay in the middle or the left lane if you are cruising. Only use the right-most lane to over take.
– Do not exceed speed limits. Excessive speed reduces reaction time and greatly increases impact and injuries.
– Do pay attention. Maintain concentration on your driving and other road users. Proceed with caution and do not assume anything
– If you are going on road trip with your restless kids, take along some entertainment packs like story tapes, books, snacks or toys. Spending an hour to pack these ‘essentials’ will keep them from distracting you.
